Do you do your make-up yourself?
. . . I do! And [unless specified] every deviation I submit under Make-Up is a picture of myself. I don't have as much experience putting make-up on others as I would like to, but I am always always always up for it!
How long does it take you to do your make-up?
. . . Generally, my daily make-up can take anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes, depending on how intricate it is, how new to me it is, &c. The majority of the full face-painting deviations that I have submitted [under the Category "Body Painting"] take more along the lines of 30 minutes . . . y'know how it is.
WHAT IS THAT $#&*! ON YOUR FACE?!?!!
. . . It's art, you nutnick! [Thankfully, this question is only frequently asked on YouTube; people seem to be able to appreciate art a little more open-mindedly here on dA, as is to be expected, I suppose.]
How long have you been doing it? / When did you shave off your eyebrows?
. . . I started in August of 2006. There do exist in my Gallery some very very ancient make-up pieces. I was comparatively horrible at it then . . . LoL.
Do you go out in public like that?
. . . Every. Single. Day. People look at me weird, yes. I get all of these FAQs in real life, too, yes. You'd be surprised by the horrified looks that I get, but I've always liked being a true test of people's tolerance, heh heh. And it's totally worth it whenever someone approaches me who is genuinely fascinated and inspired.
Have you ever heard of Amanda Palmer?
. . . Absolutely. She is my inspiration. If anyone reading this has never heard of her; check her out [she's one half of the duo called The Dresden Dolls -- check them out, too]. She's a magnificent human being. If you appreciate my art, you can thank Amanda, haha.
What kind of make-up do you use?
. . . Really, whatever I can find, from a variety of different sources. Drugstores, make-up stores, party stores, halloween displays . . . really, anywhere they sell make-up, I browse it, and if I find anything I don't own, I pick some up. But because a lot of you are curious, here are a few of my favorite things:
· Liquid eyeliner by PRESTIGE [black, white, blue, brown, gold, teal, &c.]
· Creme make-up stacks by CINEMA SECRETS [silver, blue, purple, & pink]
· Eye shadows by MAKE UP FOR EVER [primarily, black and yellow]
· Glitters by MAKE UP FOR EVER [can be found at Sephora; that's where I get them]
· Pencil eyeliner by MAKE UP FOR EVER [the color I have is called Aqua Eyes]
· Eye shadows by URBAN DECAY [namely, Midnight Cowboy and Graffiti]
· Liquid eyeliner by URBAN DECAY [specifically, Gash]
· Eye shadows by MILANI [namely, Black Out and Leaf Green]
· Shimmering Shine eye shadow by BOURJOIS
· Red lipstick called Legend by PAULA DORF
· Black lipstick by Wet N Wild FANTASY MAKERS
· Whatever black mascara I can find [I try a new brand every time I run out; I have no particular preference, as long as it's black]
· Essentially, though, I use any of the above products in a variety of different ways; so if you see a deviation of me with blue lipstick or red eye shadow, it's probably actually lipstick or liquid eyeliner or some other such thing . . .
Another important thing to note is that I don't require feedback on my deviations. My aim is not to become a "better" artist; I do what I do and I love doing it. You can't improve art; when it's done, it's done. I merely strive to share my art with you all, and if you like it, that's great. If you don't, don't linger. Thank you!
